In order to enhance user experience and increase the model’s functionality, OpenAI has announced a number of changes to its ChatGPT model. These modifications appear to be in line with the features provided by Claude, a new rival. The changes include new capabilities like prompt examples, recommended responses, and the capacity to analyse data across several files, as described in the release notes issued on August 3, 2023. The second characteristic in particular seems to be a reaction to Claude’s skill at managing several files. The purpose of the prompt examples feature is to make users feel less intimidated when starting a conversation with ChatGPT. Users will now get starter examples when they open a new conversation. On the other side, the suggested answers tool provides users with relevant ways to continue their conversation with the model.
In a significant update, ChatGPT will now default to the GPT-4 model for Plus users. This eliminates the need to manually switch back to the GPT-3.5 default model by remembering the model that was previously chosen. Additionally, customers will be able to leverage ChatGPT’s capability, accessible with the Code Interpreter beta, to request data analysis and insights across many files. It is notable that Claude’s renowned functionality in this field is replicated by this multi-file analysis tool.
The ChatGPT app for Android was also announced in the release notes, and it went on sale for download on July 25, 2023, in Brazil, the United States, India, and Bangladesh. The distribution will be extended to more nations in the coming weeks, according to OpenAI.
In order to provide customers more control over ChatGPT’s responses, OpenAI started releasing custom instructions in beta on July 20, 2023. After being established, these preferences will direct further interactions. All Plus users can access the function right now, and in the upcoming weeks, it will become available to all users.
In a separate statement, OpenAI stated that the maximum number of messages that ChatGPT Plus subscribers can send using GPT-4 would be doubled. The new message restriction, which will take effect on July 19, 2023, is 50 per three-hour period.
In addition, the version notes emphasised the addition of the Code Interpreter, a tool that enables ChatGPT to run code, analyse data, make charts, edit files, carry out maths, and more. On July 6, 2023, this function went live for all ChatGPT Plus subscribers. The improvements show OpenAI’s dedication to enhancing the ChatGPT experience and raising the model’s capabilities on a constant basis.
