With Tornado Cash, cryptocurrency obtained through a Telegram chatbot Unibot exploit has been exchanged for ether and is currently in transit. PeckShield claims that the hacker transferred the cryptocurrency to Uniswap first, and then to Tornado Cash.
The protocol previously revealed that, while switching to a new router, it fell victim to a token approval exploit and promised to return any money that was taken.
In the world of cryptocurrency, Tornado Cash is frequently the centre of attention-grabbing hacks and exploits. A few members of its development team were accused in August of aiding hackers in the money laundering of more than $1 billion, including from North Korean-affiliated entities.
90% less people are using the privacy protocol now than before the arrests and the ensuing penalties.
The Unibot token now costs slightly more than $42, a decrease of almost 25%. The token’s price reached a peak of nearly $220 in mid-August. Investor interest was piqued by the protocol’s substantial revenue generation during its zenith.
This is the most recent cryptocurrency exploit. Users of LastPass lost $4.4 million in cryptocurrency last week.
Lookonchain discovered that the attacker’s wallet currently contains slightly more than $630,000 in cryptocurrency holdings, the majority of which are in ether (ETH), followed by USDC.
