Revolut Ramp, a tool that enables users to top up their MetaMask wallets with their Revolut account, is the result of Revolut’s partnership with the self-custodial wallet MetaMask.
In a bid to make adding cryptocurrency to self-custody wallets simpler, the digital bank will allow users to make purchases straight into MetaMask wallets in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA). According to the news release, users can pay using Visa or Mastercard cards or with the fiat currency balance they have on file in their Revolut account.
“The main goal of this collaboration is to provide our users with what they desire—more autonomy over their cryptocurrency, through simple methods, on familiar and reliable platforms,” stated Lorenzo Santos, senior product manager at Consensys, the company that created MetaMask.
“It also plays a crucial role in fostering broader crypto adoption, opening up the world of crypto to more people,” Santos said.
In February, Revolut announced that it would launch a cryptocurrency aimed at “advanced traders,” as per a recent email issued to customers. For many of its 40 million users, Revolut now provides basic cryptocurrency services.
Citing the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) new rules governing cryptocurrency promotions, the company ceased crypto services for business customers in the UK in December.
