After two months of decline, Reddit’s Fortnite token, BRICK, more than doubles in value.

Following a two-month decline of more than 80% in value, Bricks (BRICK), the native token of Reddit’s Fortnite community, saw a 110% increase in value in the last 24 hours.

Most of the trading activity was on Kraken; according to CoinMarketCap, the total amount traded on all exchanges was about $750,000, an 800% increase from the earlier 24 hours.

The price rise has defied the general cryptocurrency trend, which saw bitcoin (BTC) drop back below $27,000 on Wednesday, although there isn’t yet a clear reason for it.

Bricks, an ERC-20 token given to active Fortnite subreddit users, saw a sharp increase in value in August when excitement surrounding other Reddit community tokens, such as r/cryptocurrency’s Moons (MOON), started to grow.

All exchanges continue to have relatively little liquidity; on Kraken, 2% of market depth is equivalent to about $2,500 on both the ask and bid sides. Market depth is a statistic used to evaluate how much capital is needed to move an asset in a particular direction.

Traders are exposed to risk when an asset with substantial upside experience lacks liquidity, as the price could easily reverse course and fall again.
