Microsoft’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology is being incorporated into Aptos Labs, a layer 1 blockchain business founded by former Facebook engineers to revive the corporation’s abandoned Diem project (formerly known as Libra).
According to a press release, Aptos is utilising Microsoft’s infrastructure to roll out new products that combine AI and blockchain. One of these products is a new chatbot named Aptos Assistant, which will respond to user inquiries about the Aptos ecosystem and offer developers building smart contracts and decentralised apps with useful resources. Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service provides the chatbot’s power.
According to Mo Shaikh, CEO of Aptos Labs, “Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technologies are Quickly Converging for One Important Reason: They Are Both Generational Breakthroughs That Profoundly Impact the Evolution of the Internet and Shape Society.”
Additionally, Aptos is integrating Move, its native programming language, onto Github’s Copilot service, an AI programming tool, in order to facilitate “contract development, unit testing, formatting, and prover specifications.”
According to Rashmi Misra, general manager of AI and emerging technologies at Microsoft, “by combining Aptos Labs’ technology with the Microsoft Azure Open AI Service capabilities, we aim to democratise the use of blockchain by enabling users to seamlessly onboard to Web3 and innovators to develop new exciting decentralised applications using AI.”
Along with exploring asset tokenization, payment choices, and central bank digital currencies (CBDC) as blockchain-based financial service solutions, the two businesses have also committed to do so. To increase the security of its network, Aptos will host validator nodes on Microsoft Azure. Microsoft and Aptos Labs are collaborating closely to develop these capabilities, an Aptos representative reiterated
From the beginning, they declared, “This is a collaboration.” “Aptos Labs’ team of AI experts, PhDs, and Web3 developers are working closely with Microsoft’s AI team to train models, integrate AI technology into the Aptos Assistant and Github elements integrating with Aptos’ blockchain, and determine the best resources for developers and casual visitors who want to learn more about building on Aptos — or ask questions about the Aptos ecosystem, more generally.”
Following the breakthrough success of technologies like ChatGPT, blockchains of all types have hurriedly embraced AI technology in recent months. The inclusion of AI is crucial for funding and luring top tech talent since venture investors have shifted part of the attention previously focused on cryptocurrency businesses to AI. According to DeFi Llama data, the Aptos blockchain has around $53 million in total value locked. This is much less than Solana but more than Rival Sui.
