In order to boost innovation, science, and technology between the two countries, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Republic of Cuba have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The MoU was signed by the Nigerian delegation to the G77+China Summit in Havana, which was led by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, according to a statement from Mr. Olusola Abiola, Director of Information in the Vice President’s office.
The statement reads, “The areas of cooperation covered by the bilateral agreement include biotechnology, scientific investigation and innovation, technological development, human resources development, specialist Exchange in the area of Science and Technology, and technologies transfer for development areas”.
On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, signed the document. He continued by praising President Bola Tinubu for his inspiring leadership, which resulted in the signing of the accord.
The bilateral pact, which emphasises both human resource development and research and development, will help the two countries’ cooperation grow.
Biotechnology, scientific research and innovation, technical advancement, the development of human resources, the exchange of experts in science and technology, and technology transfer for developing countries are among the areas of cooperation covered by the bilateral agreement.
Mr. Nnaji reaffirmed that Nigeria will take full advantage of the prospects presented by the bilateral agreement while highlighting the fact that implementation of the accord would get on right away. The vice president emphasised that South-South cooperation is highly valued in Nigeria as a tool for advancing the global South’s sustainable development.
