Investcorp and Securitize Form Partnership for Fund Tokenization

Securitize and alternative asset management Investcorp have partnered to explore fund tokenization potential. Within Investcorp’s Strategic Capital Group (ISCG), which was established in 2019 and has $1.5 billion in assets under management, the two companies will first create tokenized funds. In the areas of buyout, secondaries, structured equity, private credit, and real asset strategies, ISCG has collaborated with mid-sized general partners (GPs) and specialises in purchasing minority shares in GPs.

Anthony Maniscalco, Managing Partner, ISCG, stated in a release that “Investcorp’s strong legacy as an innovator in alternative investments is continued with this partnership with Securitize.” “The application of tokenization technology opens up a new era of accessibility and may improve investor efficiencies.” Securitize is providing a larger variety of investors with access to the GP staking strategy through this partnership. Through this agreement, qualified investors will have more access to developing private markets with the efficiency of blockchain technology by utilising Securitize’s tokenization technology to access GP staking techniques.

Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, stated in a press release, “We believe that Investcorp, as a global alternative investment manager, represents some of the most innovative thinking in the market.” “We are removing barriers and enabling individual investors to take part in opportunities that were previously out of reach by tokenizing alternative assets.” Investcorp was formerly a prominent player in the cryptocurrency market.

The company hired Herve Francois, the former head of ING’s digital assets, in 2022 to assist in the development of its first blockchain fund. Since then, the company has led or contributed to numerous rounds for cryptocurrency startups.
