Magic Eden has hired a former Coinbase executive as its new Head of Product.

According to a PRNewsWire post on July 20, 2023, Magic Eden, the largest NFT marketplace on the Solana blockchain, has named Linus Chung, a former executive at Coinbase, as its Head of Product. Chung comes to the post with nearly two decades of expertise in technology and web3, where he will lead product development, improve user experience, drive growth, and build long-term strategy.

Chung was previously the Director of Product at Coinbase before joining Magic Eden. “I am confident that digital ownership, enabled by NFT technology, will become ubiquitous in the future.” “We are still in the early stages of NFT development,” Chung remarked, according to PRNewsWire.

He stated his delight about joining Magic Eden and his eagerness to collaborate with the web3 community to accelerate NFT adoption through innovation and outstanding product experiences.

Chung has a track record of scaling products and businesses, as he proved at Coinbase. He held several senior positions there, including Director of Product and Head of Growth & Risk. Chung oversaw teams responsible for more than doubling Coinbase’s user base to over 50 million and growing Coinbase to over 100 countries. He also led the teams that created and grew several of Coinbase’s most popular products, including Coinbase Earn, Coinbase Card, and Coinbase Pay. Prior joining Coinbase, Chung held leadership positions at Tesla, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

Chung’s accession to the Magic Eden team was welcomed by Jack Lu, CEO and co-founder. “Linus is joining us at a really special time when we have a lot of projects cooking across our core user experience, rewards, and cross chain initiatives,” Lu explained. He expressed confidence that Chung’s skills and passion for NFTs will assist Magic Eden in developing the best NFT platform in the world.

Magic Eden has recently reached significant milestones, like becoming the #1 Ordinals marketplace and trading $300M since its inception. It has also open-sourced its Solana marketplace contract, launched the most intuitive aggregator on chain, and earned up to 40% secondary market share for Polygon.

Magic Eden seeks to establish a user-friendly platform for minting and collecting NFTs, bringing dynamic cultural moments onto the blockchain and allowing users across hundreds of digital communities to create, find, and collect uniqueNFTs.
