Do Kwon, who was recently arrested at Podgorica airport in Montenegro for attempting to fly to Dubai using fake documents. Following his arrest, the Montenegrin court approved a 30-day extension to Kwon’s detention period, which is longer than the usual 72-hour period allotted by authorities.
The legal team representing Kwon confirmed that they will be appealing against the Montenegrin court’s decision to detain the TerraForm Lab Co-founder for longer than usual. Due to concerns of a potential escape, the decision was made after Kwon was caught using fake documents at Podgorica airport while trying to fly to Dubai.
Meanwhile, Do Kwon who is wanted by Korea government , the United States and Singapore, also under investigation for alleged fraud and tax evasion after investors filed complaints against him last May. In addition, Kwon is also the subject of Interpol red notice since September.
Additionally , The arrest has also shed light on the issue of using fake documents to travel by high-profile individuals and a need for stricter regulations and checks at airports.
However, the company is yet to released an official statement regarding Kwon’s arrest and charges as the situation will likely have significant implications on the company and its stakeholders.
