The quantity of cryptocurrency ATMs installed is almost at an all-time high.

The 2,564 bitcoin ATMs that have been built in 2024 are expected to beat the 2,861 units that were taken out in 2023. .In just the past 12 months, the number of cryptocurrency ATMs installed globally has increased by 17.8% to 38,279, bringing it ever closer to the record of 39,541 established in December 2022.

Compared to the net loss of 2,861 machines in 2023, there have been 2,564 new cryptocurrency ATMs installed as of 2024, according to Coin ATM Radar, showing a positive trend. This expansion points to a market comeback.

Every month from July 2023 to May 2024 saw an increase in the total. The number of installations decreased by 115 in May and June, but increased by 377 in June, a remarkable comeback. With 7,543, 5,057, and 2,756 ATMs, respectively, Bitcoin Depot, Coinflip, and Athena Bitcoin are the top three operators of bitcoin ATMs. While Bitcoin Cash, Ether, and Litecoin are other widely used cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin is by far the most commonly transacted with. The United States accounts for almost 82% of all bitcoin ATMs worldwide, with Canada following closely behind with 7.7%.

The last two years have seen an almost 17-fold increase in installations to 1,107 devices in Australia. Australia is in a good position to overtake the 1,584 ATMs in Europe at the present installation rate.pFurther nations seeing notable installations of bitcoin ATMs are Germany (177), Spain (313), Poland (279), El Salvador (215), Poland (211), and Hong Kong (169).

The other nations with more than 100 ATMs are New Zealand, Romania, Georgia, Switzerland, and Austria. Of the 193 nations recognised by the UN, 72 have cryptocurrency Automated Tellers (ATMs).

Installations saw a large net decrease between December 2022 and July 2023, falling to an 18-month low of 32,764. Coin-operated ATMs BitAccess, a producer of cryptocurrency ATMs, may have played a part in that decline, according to Radar data, as its net installations decreased by 26% from 9,160 in August 2022 to 6,774 in January 2024. Nevertheless, since then, it has managed to grow its net installations by 1,208.
