The wealthy twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have now contributed a total of $4.9 million to Fairshake, a Super political action committee (PAC) that supports candidates who support cryptocurrency, according to Bloomberg, which cited the most recent federal records.
The Winklevoss twins, prominent bitcoin (BTC) investors and co-founders of the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, were among the original investors in Fairshake, as disclosed in the inaugural release on December 18, 2023. The Winklevosses join a roster of well-known cryptocurrency investors that support the Super PAC, including ARK Invest, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and cryptocurrency businesses including Coinbase (COIN), Circle, Ripple, and more.
According to OpenSecrets.org, Fairshake has raised more than $85 million in total to assist political figures who promote cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Millions of dollars have also been spent against Katie Porter, the California Senate candidate.
Super PACs are not allowed to donate directly to political politicians, and Fairshake has become one of the leading cryptocurrency-supporting campaign financing organisations.
