Uk government drops plan for Royal mint NFT

The United Kingdom has suspended plan to lunch the governmental backed “NFT for Britain” which was proposed by the British prime minister, Rishi Sunak.

In regard to a question raised by a conservative politician Harriett Baldwin, Andrew Griffith who is the Treasury’s economic secretary confirmed that:

“In consultation with HM Treasury, the Royal Mint is not proceeding with the lunch of a non-fungible token at this time but will keep this proposal under review”

 Also,  in regard to the new development, the shadow City minister Tulip Siddiq, welcomed the decision,

I’m glad that the Royal Mint has finally made the Conservatives see sense, but we’ve been calling on the chancellor to drop this crypto gimmick for months,” she remarked .

The plan which was proposed by the UK prime minister Rishi Sunak while serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer, set to create an “NFT for Britain” as part of government’s ambition to make the UK a global HUB for Digital Asset(cryptocurrency) investment and technology.

Additionally, the Prime ministry while serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer has been a crypto enthusiast and often declare his interest in blockchain.
